ECM (Enterprise content management ) - is a set of technologies used to capture, store, preserve and deliver content and documents and content related to organizational processes. ECM tools allow the management of an organization's unstructured information, wherever that information exists.
ECM employed the technologies and strategies of content management to address business process issues, such as records and auditing, knowledge sharing, personalization and standardization of content, and so on.
When we first looked at the new MetaVis Technologies tools for SharePoint, we knew there would be a lot of interest from
enterprise struggling to manage and control their SharePoint

Open Text has partnered with Recommind, a provider of enterprise search and eDiscovery solutions, to offer a new product called Open Text eDiscovery Early Case Assessment. The
solution promises to minimize the need for third-party processing and
help control the high costs of legal reviews by culling irrelevant
information before it goes for review by outside counsel.
DiscoveryBox, a Honolulu-based developer of a state-of-the-art legal
hold and electronic discovery platform, and Black Letter Discovery, a
national leader in legal document review solutions, announce recently a
partnership making DiscoveryBox's platform available to Black Letter
Discovery customers.

IBM has announced a family of products for archiving email,
classifying content and searching multiple information sources --
independent of where and how the content was created, processed and
archived called the Content Collection and Archiving products.
IBM said its Content Collection and Archiving offerings will
help clients move beyond e-mail archiving to provide organizations with
management capabilities for virtually all their business content,
including file systems, Lotus Quickr, Microsoft SharePoint, instant
messages and other information. The products offer functionality to
meet legal eDiscovery and records management requirements as well as
de-duplication and integration with records retention services, helping
to reduce storage and electronic discovery costs.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server has a new friend in Autonomy Corp. The information compliance vendor has recently unveiled ControlPoint,
enabling real-time, policy-driven control over SharePoint content. This
SharePoint extension, while allowing organizations to comply with
corporate, legal and regulatory standards, can and will assist
enterprises with maintaining eDiscovery requirements — a critical task
in today’s world.
Not content to just help manage content storage for SharePoint, ECM provider Open Text has come out with a new solution that will help SharePoint solve its Lifecycle Management issues. readiness, announced recently expanded platform integration support and
enhanced eDiscovery functionality designed to improve the efficiency of

IBM has announced the release of new enterprise content management
(ECM) software specifically designed to meet the needs of clients
dealing with complex legal discovery requirements. The company's
eDiscovery solutions expand on IBM's ECM platform used to manage
digitally stored documents, with an eye toward streamlining the
discovery process and reducing costs.
According to IBM, the new software provides a variety of automated
processes, including collecting, searching and classifying critical
data across a variety of content sources, as well as the ability to
track changes. The main component of the solution is IBM's eDiscovery
Manager, which allows authorized individuals to search for, and
retrieve, key documents.
