SaaS content management

ECM (Enterprise content management ) - is a set of technologies used to capture, store, preserve and deliver content and documents and content related to organizational processes. ECM tools allow the management of an organization's unstructured information, wherever that information exists.

ECM employed the technologies and strategies of content management to address business process issues, such as records and auditing, knowledge sharing, personalization and standardization of content, and so on.

Call it rubber-necking or whatever you want, but when one company buys another company in this business we want to know the details.Such is the case with the announcement that Pennsylvania based Really Strategies has just bought out DocZone, a Dutch-based SaaS XML content management provider under — you guessed it — undisclosed terms. DocZone’s DITA solution is known as being one of the most affordable on the market, while Really Strategies’ RSuite is a browser-based web content management system for publishers.
DocuLex announces the release of Archive Studio SaaS, online Web-based content management providing remote document access, permissions, printing and distribution. This service enables secure document warehousing and sharing for practical knowledge management and colleague collaboration. The service was created for organizations with limited IT resources, and a need to share documents among multiple offices, other companies or the public, as well as for record centers that are warehousing business documents, enabling their availability digitally through the Internet for client access.
Socialcast has finally released the latest version of its enterprise social networking service. This SaaS-based service holds a new surprise along with all the features we told you about last month — a self-service delivery model.
In a recent article and blog entry, my colleague Tony talked about both the popularity of Software as a Service or hosted model and some of the potential dangers. In our 2008 Web Content Management Report we cover two pure-play SaaS vendors, Clickability and CrownPeak. Both are venture-backed, both have shown consistent growth recently, and today Clickability announced that it has received a second round of funding of $8 million, bringing its total outside funding to $15.3 million. One of the critical concerns of potential SaaS buyers who are thinking about trusting their content on someone else's servers is the vendor's stability. This concern is even more important when evaluating a company like Clickability, who for most of their customers not only hosts their clients' content management system, but also the clients' customer facing sites. Clickability customers will likely find some re-assurance that there is more money behind the company protecting their investments
DocZone.com, provider of the first SaaS-based content component management system, has introduced another novelty: pricing based on payment per minute. This type of payment plan is not unusual for the mobile phone industry, but is certainly radical for the SaaS space. Enterprises typically turn to a SaaS provider for two reasons: they don't want to or don't have the resources to support the technology, or they don't want to tie up funds to purchase the technology -- they'd rather pay for it over time. DocZone's "Pay-Per-Minute" service is certainly focused on the issue of costs. Customers can buy a block of minutes for a fixed price per minute, with larger blocks receiving discounted rates. Rates range from 39 cents/minute for 2,500 shared minutes a month to 24 cents/minute for 50,000 shared minutes a month. There is no limit on the number of users that can share the minutes.
