Enterprise Productivity Management

ECM (Enterprise content management ) - is a set of technologies used to capture, store, preserve and deliver content and documents and content related to organizational processes. ECM tools allow the management of an organization's unstructured information, wherever that information exists.

ECM employed the technologies and strategies of content management to address business process issues, such as records and auditing, knowledge sharing, personalization and standardization of content, and so on.

EPM Live, the leading Enterprise SharePoint Project Management solution announced recently that it has released new SharePoint-based Enterprise Productivity Management capabilities in their award winning software solution. The new capabilities in EPM Live will allow more efficient and effective project and work management with dynamic controls that extend the current capability of Microsoft Office SharePoint. EPM Live CEO, Joe Larscheid says, "By applying the proven methodologies of project management to most work, you create a solution that goes beyond software; we create a business mindset. We wanted to offer a solution instead of ad-hoc web parts because there is method and process in the real work of business. Businesses should have a strategic solution not a tactical 'fix' to their problem. EPM Live offers two methods of deployment: online or onsite. This makes EPM Live the perfect implementation model for any growing company."
User stories from the knowledge front A new report distribution system will allow travel giant Pilot Corporation to save time producing its monthly and weekly reports. An operator of travel center rest stops, convenience stores and fast-food restaurants, Pilot has chosen technology from Mobius Management Systems to automate its enterprise report management. “We needed to simplify the report distribution process for our remote users, provide faster access to reports and improve our archiving capabilities,” explains David DePrimo, manager of corporate systems for Pilot. The new system allows users to distribute reports directly from their desktops. “This will eliminate at least one day from our month-end report process, reduce the possibility of breakdowns in the process and enhance overall enterprise productivity,” DePrimo says.

Knowledge management starts from a simple premise: The critical resource that determines competitive advantage in today's economy is knowledge. Consequently, the same kinds of tools and strategies that companies once devoted to optimizing the use of natural resources, capital and labor in the old industrial economy now must be applied to maximizing the productivity of their knowledge assets. Knowledge management refers to the collection of management practices and associated enabling technologies.KM then and nowWhen it began in the early 1990s, knowledge management was squarely focused on increasing organizational effectiveness by improving the diffusion of "tacit" institutional knowledge, that is, inside the heads of employees. Particularly in large companies, project teams within the enterprise had been continually "reinventing the wheel," oblivious to the past successes or failures of other groups within the same company confronted with nearly identical problems

Lawyers were well represented (you might say) at this year's Enterprise Search Summit in New York. At times, ESS felt more like an e-discovery conference with analytics and social-computing side-tracks rather than a search conference featuring a few e-discovery sessions. Based on what I saw at the Search Summit, there seems to be a renewed awareness, at ever-higher levels in the corporate responsibility chain, that in a litigious business environment "enterprise search" is not just a knowledge-management tactic or a productivity aid, but a survival imperative. You will be sued some day. (It's not a matter of "if," but when.) During the discovery phase of the suit, you're going to provide (and also receive from the other side) bewilderingly immense amounts of data. Without good search technology, sifting through the data isn't just tedious but nightmarishly expensive.I didn't get a chance to attend any e-discovery sessions at the Search Summit
